HOTEL KARTLI INTERIORS

The oscillation from temporary to permanent is not only present on the exterior facade but also in the interior condition of each unit. Objects from the sanatorium's previous history were repurposed by current residents. Chairs from the theater area, for instance, were relocated and repurposed as domestic furniture. The residential unit also collapses spaces for domestic labor, physical labor, and play to fulfill the multiple needs of IDP families. Unable to handle the physical demands of long term housing, the sanatorium is in a state of decay that poses serious risk to life and health of the 130 families living in it.1
